Parenting Reimagined:
Live Online Group

This transformative program empowers and guides parents through the toughest challenges, offering practical solutions and a fresh perspective.

Feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, or just lost in the challenges of parenting?

First, I want you to know that I see you. Not just because I’ve spent the last 10 years working as a therapist with parents of neurodivergent children, but because I am also a parent of multiply neurodivergent children. I’ve been there, I am there, and it can be challenging, especially given our neuronormative society.

If you can relate to my clients’ stories, you’re in the right place

I’m struggling to connect with my teen who is on the autism spectrum. He seems shut down and reclusive, and I’m worried about him. When I try to talk to him he won’t engage. I don’t know how to help him or how to strengthen our relationship.

My daughter’s teacher tells me she’s fine at school, however as soon as she gets home she becomes a different kid - she has huge tantrums that can last hours, she won’t bathe without a fight, and she’s constantly upset. What is going on? Why is she like this?

I’ve tried for years to get people to understand my child’s challenges, but no one seems to get it. We have no easy days. I keep thinking my child will outgrow these issues. I’m exhausted, confused, and I need help.

I’m Alexis.
I know this isn’t easy, but you don’t have to do it alone. (Trust me, I’m a therapist)

Help is Here

I'm here to offer personalized guidance and support. Together, we'll find solutions tailored to your family's unique needs, helping your child thrive and reach new milestones along the way.

Seen, Heard, Supported

Where all parenting journeys deserve to be seen, heard, and supported by others who can identify with our experiences and lift us up when we need it most. We are not in this alone.

Wise Community

Using an inclusive community framework, we benefit from the wisdom and experience of others, while learning new and loving ways of being, thinking, and parenting in a neurodiverse world.

Strenghts-Based

Shifting from the mainstream medical model where disorders, deficits, and symptoms are the focus, we instead build on strengths while deepening connection and emotional safety.

Cutting Edge

Borrowing from neuroscience, evidence-based therapeutic models, and trauma-informed practices, we create compassionate roadmaps based on what actually works for our families and children vs. outdated norms.

Client love

We're so lucky to have Alexis in our lives.
With her guidance we discovered the our child is PDA and have finally been able to implement effective tools to connect with all our children.

Client love

Alexis provides a safe atmosphere where I felt comfortable to share my biggest struggles and deepest emotions, from which the group provided help, empathy, and community.

Client love

The sessions provided new perspectives and a reset
that enabled me to jump back into the chaos feeling grounded and supported.

I created the Parenting Reimagined program to help families on waiting lists for psychotherapy.

In March 2020, as the world seemed to come to a screeching halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the demand for therapy understandably skyrocketed. My colleagues and I were desperately trying to find ways to meet the demand, however there are only so many hours in the work week and most of us were burning the candle at both ends.

Turning families away, or placing them on long waitlists, felt unacceptable to me. I decided to create a pathway forward for parents who needed support, and began thinking big. It took a few years to put all of the pieces together, and in the fall of 2023 the Parenting Reimagined program saw the light of day. This passion project is directly fueled by the positive changes that arise when a community of parents join hands to learn, change, grow, and thrive.

Raising neurodivergent children in a neuronormative world can feel like swimming upstream with weights tied around your feet. Finding others who ‘get it’ is hard, at times impossible, without help. The Parenting Reimagined program offers parents and families who might be swimming upstream a chance to share the load, rest a while, learn some new stuff, and redesign the plan.

What if there’s an easier way? What if we all joined together to help each other out? What if more parents had access to evidenced-based therapeutic approaches?

What if we could Reimagine Parenting together?

Group Participant

5 stars

Alexis has an amazing ability to find pieces of each person and bring a lasting connection within a group. At the beginning of the group, I wondered how my experiences and expectations would fit with the others. But by the end, and through Alexis’ experiences and coaching, the connection that was created through the group was long lasting.

Why I created
this program

(hint: I've wasted thousands of dollars on ineffective “DIY solutions”)

Parenting took me off-road. No roadmap, just trial and error, wins, detours, and do-overs. But as a family therapist, my "home lab" became a playground for new ideas.

But first, I had to get past all the “DIY fix-it tips.” Have you heard these? Maybe they work for someone’s children, but they definitely did not work for my children. I wasted years caught in a spin cycle of … gluten-free, dairy-free, no red dye!, sticker charts, schedules, the visual timer!, physical play, pretend play, independent play!, 30 min screen max, 3 hour screen max, no screen max!.... Wait, fish oil? But what amount of EFA vs. DHA?! GABA? L-Theanine??

Listen, I’ve spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on supplements and not one of them made my children easier to parent. In fact, it burned me through precious energy and resources that I wish I had used for a vacation.

The big 3 discoveries that changed everything for me

Problem #1

Having neurodivergent children in your life is not a problem to fix.Your children may be struggling, but you cannot meet their needs if you don’t know what they are.

Discovery #1

Understand neurodivergence. Talk to neurodivergent individuals and ask them what it’s like to live in our society. Ask them what it was like for them as children. You will come away with valuable insight and ideas.

Problem #2

Being told by society (family, friends, teachers, doctors, etc.) that your child should fit into a mold that other children fit in is harmful. That’s stigma. There is no right way to be a child, like there is no right way to be an adult. We are all inherently diverse. That’s nature.

Discovery #2

Learn how to decode your child’s behavior. Once you learn the language, you will be surprised at how much you understand about them and what they need.

Problem #3

What makes this journey especially difficult is the comparison trap. I blocked nearly everyone on Facebook because I couldn’t afford the emotional drain that happened after I viewed pictures of families smiling together. I chose to hide, be small, and isolate. Because I thought I was doing it all wrong.

Discovery #3

Do whatever you need to in order to be around other families like yours. Find the groups and join them. Show up for the calls, even if you mute yourself and keep your camera off. Hear other parents talk about their experiences. It will remind you that you are most definitely not alone, and you do not have to hide. You are not wrong, and neither are your children.

Looking back, I wish I'd heard this:

"Your children are full of strengths. They are actually quite brilliant in getting their needs met. Unfortunately, you, as a parent, do not have the proper support and guidance you deserve. Here’s the business card of a professional who also has the personal experience to understand what you're going through. You don’t have to do this alone."

Society is full of fast fixes that will distract you from important changes you may need to make in your mindset, your parenting, and your expectations. Don’t get side-tracked. (aka this is your friendly reminder to stop doom-scrolling Amazon) Change is possible, but it won’t happen overnight, and it won’t happen by continuing to jam a square peg into a round hole.

This, and so much more, is what I long to share with you.

What you will gain

Turn Frustration into Celebration

Instead of focusing on what’s not working, together we’ll Identify your child’s hidden superpowers and nurture their individual gifts. Parenting Reimagined empowers you to leave frustration behind, and to step into a strength-based mindset. When you look at your child with an open and accepting heart you’ll want to celebrate this new path and its limitless possibilities.

Transform Chaos into Connection

Let’s face it, when mainstream parenting techniques create only chaos and turmoil, parents panic. But what if we take this opportunity to rework the plan? Transforming chaos into connection is the goal here, and it’s entirely possible once you implement strategies that are in alignment with your family’s needs.

Tap into Your Own Potential

We can’t always change our circumstances, but we can change how we experience them. It’s amazing what happens when we pour our energy into moving forward instead of doing the same thing and expecting a different result. Parenting Reimagined provides you with the tools you need to decode behavior, deepen connection, and take better care of yourself (not just your kids). We discover our potential when we feel safe and nurtured. Isn’t it time you felt taken care of?

Parenting Reimagined is for you if:

  • You are tired of feeling frustrated and upset with your child

  • You are anxious about your parenting future and unsure of how to proceed

  • You feel sad, overwhelmed, or burdened by the way your child has been treated by others

  • You feel alone and wonder if you’re making the problems worse

  • You’re willing to shift how you’re thinking about your children and their challenges

Parenting Reimagined is not for you if:

  • You are looking for ideas on discipline, how to have more control, or ways to make your child do what you want

  • Your ultimate goal is to “fix” your child

  • You are having safety issues at home and may need a greater level of support (if you’re not sure, please use the free 1:1 session with Alexis to talk further)

  • You hate being in groups!

  • You know that you’re not in the right headspace to try something new right now, but may want to try it at a later date

F.A.Q.

  • A therapy group requires the facilitator to diagnose each participant with a mental health disorder from the DSM-V. Because Alexis has moved away from this medical model she is not interested in diagnosing people who participate in the group. However, she is still interested in providing a therapeutic experience! So, essentially, you receive the benefit of a healing group without the DSM-V involved.

  • It happens! What a great opportunity to practice flexibility. Alexis will be happy to fill you in if you miss any part of the call. Managing multiple roles is a reality for many parents these days.

  • We are all over-booked! And we still have to make time for ourselves to heal, grow, and evolve IF we want things to change. Complicated answer: this is completely up to you. If the time isn’t right, join the next round instead!

  • This is a great topic to discuss with Alexis during your free info call.

  • Alexis is committed to providing a safe and structured experience for every participant. If you have any concerns about this you are welcome to speak with her directly during your free call or at any point throughout the program.
